When we visited Finca Las Flores, the owner, Gerardo Peñalba, gave our group a personal tour of his farm and small milling operation. He specializes in Honey and Natural Process coffees. Gerardo has orange, lemon, and mango trees spread throughout his farm to assist with cross-pollination. The fruits mixed into the soil, combined with Gerardo's Honey Processing, brings forth a fruity and vivacious cup of coffee! We scored his coffee highest out of fifty coffees we cupped blind. When we learned that this high-scoring coffee was Gerardo's coffee, we knew it was a perfect match for Blue State Coffee. The coffee is grown at 4,593 feet above sea level.
